Iran condemns deadly bombings in Yemen capital

Iran has condemned the latest deadly terrorist attacks in Yemen, saying the impoverished nation is being struck by the double predicament of terrorism inside the country and a foreign military aggression.

In a statement on Thursday, Irans Foreign Ministry spokeswoman, Marzieh Afkham, condemned multiple bombings that targeted the political bureau of the Houthi Ansarullah movement as well as three mosques in the capital Sanaa a day earlier.

At least 31 people were killed and dozens more were injured in the attacks, which wereclaimed by the Takfiri terrorist group ISIL.

Afkham offered sympathy to the families of victims of the inhumane attacks and expressedhope for a stop to the Saudi military campaign and a ceasefire soonin Yemen to facilitate the delivery of humanitarian aid.

She called oninternational organsto focus specifically on the "continuousand smooth delivery ofhumanitarian aidto the fasting Yemeni people during the holy month of Ramadan.

Saudi Arabia started its military campaign against the Arabian Peninsula nation on March 26 without a UN mandate in an attempt to weaken the Ansarullah movement and bring Hadi back to power.

The United Nations says at least 2,600 people have been killed and 11,000 others wounded due to the conflict in Yemen since March 19.

UN Human Rights spokesman Rupert Colville said on June 16 that at least 1,412 civilians, including 210 women, have been killed and a further 3,423 injured since March 26.
