Central Bank of Iran ready for cooperation with German banks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Central Bank of Iran (CBI) Chief Valiollah Seif said on Wednesday that the CBI is willing to confer with Germany on ways to develop mutual cooperation.

Central Bank of Iran is ready to hold a meeting with a delegation of Germany's banking system and discuss ways to have mutual cooperation in the banking field, Seif said at a meeting with a German economic delegation in Tehran.

He hailed the history of Tehran-Berlin economic and banking collaborations.

He also noted that Iranian banks have settled their debts to German counterparts with minimum delay.

"Fluctuations have never prevented the expansion of good banking ties between the two sides," Seif said, adding that the current banking situation in Iran can provide the ground for commodity exchanges between the two countries.

Members of the German economic delegation, for their part, described Seif's remarks as important and promising, and expressed hope for the removal of anti-Iran economic sanctions, which would give them access to the country's market.

While talks between Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) for a comprehensive deal on Tehran's peaceful nuclear program are in the final stages, more foreign companies are impatient to seize the opportunity of investing in Iran's lucrative market as soon as the sanctions are terminated.
