Iran denies report on possible delay in lifting sanctions after N. deal

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Head of the Iranian team of experts engaged in nuclear negotiations with six world powers rejected a recent report that says after a nuclear deal, the United Nations Security Council will likely delay lifting anti-Iran sanctions so that US Congress would review the agreement.

"I deny this report and think that it is entirely fabricated," Iranian Foreign Ministry's Director General for the Political and International Affairs Hamid Baeidinejad said.
His comment came after a report by Reuters on Tuesday said if Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) reach a nuclear deal, "the United Nations Security Council will likely delay for at least a month action to lift UN nuclear sanctions on Tehran so US Congress can review the agreement."
Iran has repeatedly announced that all US, UN and European Union sanctions should be lifted immediately after a deal is signed.
Iran and the six powers are negotiating to hammer out a lasting accord that would end more than a decade of impasse over Tehran's civilian nuclear program.
On April 2, Iran and the sextet reached a framework nuclear agreement in Lausanne, Switzerland, with both sides committed to push for a final deal, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA), until the end of June.
