Iran envoy absent when Yemeni Hadi delivered speech to OIC meeting

Tehran, June 16, IRNA Deputy Foreign Minister for Arab-African Affairs Hossein Amir-Abdollahian was absent when Abd-Rabbu Mansour Hadi, the Yemeni resigned president was delivering a speech to the meeting of the Organization of the Islamic Cooperation on Tuesday.

Amir-Abdollahian id currently on a visit to Jeddah to attend the OIC meeting.

Amir-Abdollahian expressed outrage at the Saudi indicriminate bombardment of the civilian targets in Yemen and deliberate destruction of infrastructure of the great Yemeni nation.

He said in his speech to the OIC meeting that the Yemeni nation is in dire need of national solidarity.

Amir-Abdollahian rebuked the Saudi government for gross violation of the United Nations Charter by perpetrating war crimes and crimes against humanity in Yemen.

He said that the international community must respect Yemeni national sovereignty and territorial integrity.

Elaborating on Iran's four-point peace plan about Yemen, Amir-Abdollahian called for an immediate halt to aggressions on innocent people of Yemen and putting an end to the siege on the country, especially on the eve of the holy fasting month of Ramadan.

Amir-Abdollahian voiced Tehran's support for peace talks between different Yemeni groups in Geneva, hailing efforts made by the UN Secretary of State Ban Ki-moon and his envoy on Yemen in this regard.

He called on the OIC member states to carry out their humanitarian and Islamic duties about the Yemeni crisis.

Amir-Abdollahian said that the Saudi government jeopardized the international peace by committing war of aggression on Yemen.

He underlined that resorting to military methods for solving the Yemeni crisis is wrong and its outcome will be nothing but fueling extremism and terrorism and endangering regional security.
