South Pars to accelerate offshore development

TEHRAN June 14(Shana)--Iran is speeding up the offshore development of six phases of the massive South Pars gas filed, managing-director of Iranian Offshore Engineering and Construction Company (IOEC) said.

Gholam-Reza Manouchehri said the six phases are expected to become operational in 35 months.
Phases 14, 19, 20&21, 22&23&24 are under focus in the current calendar year. Progress in these phases has reached different levels.

Phase 14 is under development for the production of 56.5 mcm/d of sour gas, 75,000 b/d of gas condensate, one million tons a year of liquefied gas, one million tons a year of ethane and 400 tons a day of sulfur.
A consortium of Irans Industrial Development and Renovation Organization (IDRO), National Iranian Drilling Company (NIDC), Iran Shipbuilding & Offshore Industries Complex Co (ISOICO) and IOEC are in charge of Phase 14.

Phase 19 development of South Pars is set to produce 50 mcm/d of sweet gas, 75,000 b/d of gas condensate, 400 tons a day of sulfur, 1.05 million tons a year of liquefied petroleum gas and one million tons a year of ethane.
This development phase was awarded by Pars Oil and Gas Company (POGC) to a Petropars-led consortium of Petropars Limited and Petropars Iran and IOEC in June 2010 under an engineering, procurement, construction (EPC) contract.

Petropars Limited and Petropars Iran are responsible for onshore installations and drilling operations.
Phases 20&21 are being developed for the production of 50 mcm/d of natural gas for feeding into national trunkline, 77,000 b/d of gas condensate for exports, 400 tons a day of sulfur for exports, 1.1 million tons a year of liquefied gas for exports and one million tons a year of ethane for exports.

Phases 22, 23&24 are aimed at producing 56.6 mcm/d of sour gas, 75,000 b/d of gas condensate, 400 tons a day of sulfur, 1 million tons a year of ethane and 1.1 million tons a year of liquefied petroleum gas (LPG).
South Pars, divided into 29 development phases, contains 40 trillion cubic meters (tcm) of natural gas. It covers an area of 9,700 square kilometers, 3,700 square kilometers of which are in Irans territorial waters in the Persian Gulf. The remaining 6,000 square kilometers are situated in Qatars territorial waters.

The gas field is estimated to contain about eight percent of the worlds reserves, and approximately 18 billion barrels of condensate.
