Content of nuclear deal more important than deadline: Shamkhani

Tehran, June 15, IRNA Content of nuclear deal is more important than the deadline for Iran, Secretary for the Supreme National Security Council Ali Shamkhani said on Monday.

Speaking to Arabic-language Al-Manar TV, he noted that Iran will not victimize reaching a good agreement with P5+1 in exchange for an agreement before the June deadline.

Despite mistrust in US, Tehran is committed to continue the talks, he said urging other sides of talks to use the opportunity for resolution of Iran's nuclear issue.

Iran talks only over its nuclear issue and its military activities are not negotiable, Shamkhani noted.

He said that Tehran aims to negotiate removal of its sanctions and in the meantime have its peaceful nuclear actives.

IAEA politically motivated reports on Iran's nuclear activities have weakened the legal position of this international organization, Shamkhani added.

He underscored that Iran will not accept additional obligations on its nuclear program beyond the common approaches.

Iran and the G5+1 are in talks to hammer out a lasting accord that would end more than a decade of impasse over Tehran's peaceful nuclear program.

On April 2, the two sides reached a framework nuclear agreement in Lausanne, Switzerland, with both sides committed to push for a final deal until the end of June.
