Iran nuclear agreement at 50-50: Boroujerdi

Tehran, June 14, IRNA A senior lawmaker said here late Saturday that the nuclear negotiations are now at 50-50 chance of success.

Speaking during an interview with Iranian TV in Tehran, Head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Alaeddin Boroujerdi pointed out that the Iranian parliament would support a proper nuclear agreement.

'Certain countries are trying to put more pressure on the Islamic Republic of Iran, but the talks indicate the seriousness of the parties to reach a good agreement,' Boroujerdi added.

Touching upon the world powers' efforts aimed at preventing Iran from obtaining peaceful nuclear energy, he added in spite of opposition from Britain, France and Germany over request for 20 centrifuges in the past, today Iran has thousands of centrifuges.

'Despite the Zionist lobby's efforts aimed at playing a deterrent role in nuclear negotiations, we are looking for a good agreement and the two parties are determined to achieve positive results,' he added.

'Pointing to West's unjust sanctions against Iran, Boroujerdi stressed that Saudi Arabia and the Zionist regime are putting more pressure on US to hinder the nuclear negotiations,' he said.

Boroujerdi reiterated that the US congress, under Zionists lobby influence, is hindering the nuclear talks with Iran.
