Overcoming impacts of economic sanctions not impossible: Rezaei

Tehran, June 11, IRNA - Secretary of the Expediency Council Mohsen Rezaei on Thursday said that economic sanctions imposed by the West on Iran have undoubtedly affected lives of the Iranian people but it should not be assumed it is impossible to thwart impacts of those sanctions.

Rezaei made the remarks while speaking to reporters on the sidelines of the first international conference on the role of Iran's Islamic Revolution on the world order.

Commenting on regional developments, the official said, 'It seems that the insecurities created by the Takfiri group of Daesh (ISIS) in the region will last between five to ten years.'

Referring to the Saudi-led aggression on the defensless people of Yemen, Rezaei said, 'Riyadh has been defeated in its fight with Yemen and its aggression on that Arab country has only led to hatred and pessimism for Saudis among the people of Yemen, he added.

'The gap between Yemen and Saudi Arabia has become deeper and Saudis have no choice but to resolve the problem through diplomacy,' he said.

'The problem in Yemen should be setteled through a Yemeni-Yemeni talks and the country should only be run by the Yemeni people,' Rezaei said sressing that the only role which can be played by any foreign country regarding the issue of Yemen 'is to prevent any military intervention' against the Arab state.
