Former IRGC top commander stresses S. Arabia's failure in Yemen

TEHRAN (FNA)- Former commander of the IRGC and the present secretary of Iran's Expediency Council, Mohsen Rezayee, said Saudi Arabia has failed in its military strike in Yemen.

"Riyadh has failed in Yemen and earned nothing but hatred and pessimism. The gap between Yemen and Saudi Arabia has widened a lot," Rezayee told reporters in Tehran on Thursday.

Noting that Riyadh has no way out but ending the war as soon as possible, he said, "The Yemenis should sit (to the negotiating table) and decide their fate."

Rezayee called on other Muslim states to help the national talks in Yemen to move forward and avoid direct involvement and military intervention in the war-stricken country.

Saudi Arabia has been bombing Yemen in the last 78 days to bring its ally, fugitive president Mansour Hadi, back to power.

The airstrikes have so far claimed the lives of more than 4,510 civilians, mostly women and children.

According to a recent report by Freedom House Foundation, most of the victims of the deadly Al Saud campaign are civilians, including a large number of women and children.
