Foreign flights passing Iranian airspace rise by 100 percent

TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian Minister of Road and Urban Development Abbas Akhoundi said the number of flights using Iranian airspace has increased by 100 percent last year (started on March 21, 2014) comparing to the similar period in the year before.

He also said Imam Khomeini International Airport capacity will total 30 million passengers if two other terminals are added to the airport.

Today, foreign countries are using Irans safe sky for their international flights. Our aerial income grew by 100 percent.

He also referred to Irans key and strategic position in the region, and said Iran is also after development of railroad transport and connecting itself to the worlds network and radar system to secure flights for all countries in its soil.

Iran has established 6.000 kilometers of safe airway for other countries to pass Iranian sky and choose their nearest path to the destination
