Senior cleric condemns terrorist acts in Saudi Arabia

Qom, May 31, IRNA – Grand Ayatollah Nasser Makarem Shirazi here on Sunday condemned a recent deadly terrorist attack against Shia worshippers in Saudi Arabia’s Eastern Province.

Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi reiterated that Saudi Arabia should be held accountable for the terrorist attacks against Shia people.

The Grand Ayatollah also expressed hope that Saudi Arabia get familiar with its duties toward its citizens.

‘The Saudi regime should answer the question whether it agrees with these kinds of atrocities against the worshipers in the house of God?, If not, why they do not take necessary measures aimed at preventing such acts?,’ he added.
‘Which of your actins should we believe? On one hand you condemn terrorism, on the other hand, you encourage the terrorists to kill people,’ Ayatollah Makarem Shirazi said, addressing the Saudi regime.

Grand Ayatollah concluded that these incidents indicate the complexity of the regional situation in the globe and the world of Islam.

On May 29, a bomb attack, claimed by the Takfiri ISIL terrorist group, targeted another Shia mosque in the provincial capital of Dammam, located about 400 kilometers (250 miles) east of the capital, Riyadh, with a confirmed death toll of several people.

Saudi media quoted an Interior Ministry spokesman as saying that a bomber, who was dressed in women’s clothing, detonated his bomb in the parking lot of the mosque after his car was stopped by security guards.

The new assault came a week after a bombing hit a mosque in the Al-Qudaih village in the province’s Qatif district, killing 22 worshipers, including two children.

The Takfiri ISIL terrorist group claimed responsibility for the May 22 attack.
