TEHRAN (Tasnim) � Iranian Parliament Speaker Ali Larijani emphasized the important role of the legislature in addressing the country�s issues, saying the conclusion of a final deal on Iran's peaceful nuclear program requires parliament intervention as well.

"Settling the nuclear issue is not an onus on the administration alone, but a party to the resolution of this issue is the Majlis (parliament)," Larijani said in a gathering of lawmakers on Monday night.

"The country's major issues and problems, such as the nuclear talks, will not be resolved without the involvement of the Majlis," he said, stressing that a logical and right attitude is required to address the issue.

While Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) are negotiating to strike a comprehensive nuclear deal, Iranian lawmakers seek to subject the possible final deal to the parliament's approval.

Moreover, Iran's adoption of the Nuclear Non-Proliferation Treaty (NPT) needs to be ratified by the parliament, even if the administration plans to implement it voluntarily or temporarily.

On April 2, Iran and the sextet reached a framework nuclear agreement in Lausanne, Switzerland, with both sides committed to push for a final deal until the end of June.

In the past few weeks, diplomats from the two sides have been working to draft the text of the final accord, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
