Iran dismisses media claims that Tehran had sent troops to Iraq to help fight the Islamic State.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) � Iran�s Deputy Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian dismissed recent media claims on Monday that Tehran had sent troops to Iraq to help fight the Islamic State.

�We have not sent any armed troops or fighters to Iraq,� Amir-Abdollahian said at a press conference at the Rossiya Segodnya press center in Moscow.

According to the deputy foreign minister, Iran has only deployed military advisers in the country after receiving a request from the Iraqi government.
