TEHRAN, May 24 (MNA) � In cooperation with regional countries, Iran is to launch the most important rail transit from China to Europe, thus reducing 2000km of distance.

With the inauguration of Iran-Afghanistan-Tajikistan-Kyrgyzstan-China railway which connects Iran to China, the country�s transit share will increase. This will also place Iran as the golden rail transit between the East and the West.

The railway will cut the shortest route from the Far East to Europe by 2000km, thus reducing the travel distance by 40 percent. This is one of the best features�of the railway which will establish Iran�s role as one of the most significant transit centers in the region.

CEO of Iran Railway International Affairs Abbas Nazeri said at the moment most of the railways have been constructed with only a part�still incomplete in Afghanistan; �certain agreements have been reached so that Afghanistan in collaboration with Iran will soon start constructing the rest of the railway in its own territory,� he said.

Nazeri noted that Iran has railway connections with Afghanistan, Pakistan, CIS countries, Turkey and Azerbaijan, which then connect Iran to Russia. Iran also connects with Iraq via Shalamcheh and Khosravi borders.
