Top Iranian negotiators to brief MPs on nuclear talks

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and his deputy Abbas Araqchi, who are senior negotiators engaged in nuclear talks with six world powers, will attend a closed-door session of the parliament on Sunday to brief the lawmakers on the latest status of the talks.

Zarqam Sadeghi, a member of the Iranian parliaments presiding board, told Tasnim on Saturday that the two senior diplomats are scheduled to provide the legislators with information on "the latest achievements and developments in the nuclear negotiations."

Iran and the Group 5+1 (Russia, China, the US, Britain, France and Germany) are in talks to hammer out a lasting accord that would end more than a decade of impasse over Tehran's peaceful nuclear program.

On April 2, the two sides reached a framework nuclear agreement in Lausanne, Switzerland, with both sides committed to push for a final deal until the end of June.

Diplomats from the two sides are now drafting the text of the final accord, known as the Joint Comprehensive Plan of Action (JCPOA).
