The Iranian�Army�s Ground Forces have successfully staged major missile maneuvers�in central Iran, says a senior commander.

The exercise�codenamed Beit-ul-Muqaddas 27�was held in a desert area in the city of Kashan and saw�the successful test-firing of missiles which�hit predetermined targets, Army�s Ground Forces Commander Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan told IRNA on Saturday.

�The M6, M10 and Fajr missiles were fired in the drill,� he added.

The Army's Ground Forces�have improved their missile capabilities which would be put to the test�during various stages of the maneuvers.

The exercises also involve�drone units of the�Ground Forces, said the top commander.

�The final stage of the drills to�be held in [the central city of] Isfahan will feature�all units of the Ground Forces,� Pourdastan said.

He added that the Ground Forces are displaying their might by staging the maneuvers and will show that �we will nip in the bud any aggression against the Islamic Republic of Iran.�

The Beit-ul-Muqaddas 27 drill began�in three locations�on May 21 and will end on May 27.

The Iranian Army�s Ground Forces successfully held war game�Beit ul-Muqaddas 26�in central Isfahan Province in May, 2014.

That�drill�marked the 26th anniversary of the liberation of the southwestern city of Khorramshahr during the eight-year imposed war with Iraq.

In recent years, Iran has made major breakthroughs in its defense sector and attained self-sufficiency in producing important military equipment and systems.

Iran has also conducted other major military drills to enhance the defense capabilities of its armed forces and to test modern military tactics and state-of-the-art army equipment.

The Islamic Republic maintains that its military might poses no threat to other countries, stating that its defense doctrine is merely based on deterrence.
