Tehran to host first Int'l holiday expo

Iran's first International Holiday and Travel Expo will be held in Tehran on June 10 12, according to Mehr News Agency. Travel agencies, tour operators, and other relevant organizations will attend.

Participants are expected to showcase the latest achievements in the tourism and related industries, such as hospitality and transportation.

According to Ali Mohtasham Amiri, who is in charge of organizing the expo, travel agencies will offer affordable tour packages during the expo to visitors. "The packages will be sold at 10-15% discounts."

Mohtasham Amiri said that event aims to promote tourism in Iran by introducing the country's tourism potential and capacity to host large numbers of tourists. "The goal is to attract domestic and foreign investment."

Visitors will also be able to enjoy traditional dishes and local folk music while learning about Iranian art and craft.

According to Ali Teymouri, a tourism deputy at Iran's Cultural Heritage, Handicrafts, and Tourism Organization (ICHHTO), 5 million foreign tourists visited Iran last year (March 2014- March 2015), signifying a 9% increase compared to the previous year. Iran is targeting 20 million foreign tourists by 2015, based on its 20-year National Vision Plan.
