Nobakht says no cabinet shakeup is on governments agenda

Tehran, May 19, The Iran Project - Referring to the rumors of cabinet shakeup, Government Spokesman, Mohammad Bagher Nobakht, said in a weekly press conference on Tuesday that replacing ministers and governor generals is never on the governments agenda, Tasnim news agency reported.

Mohammad Bagher Nobakht denied the claims about the administrative changes, calling them groundless.

Moreover, Iranian President's Chief of Staff Mohammad Nahavandian quoted by Iran newspaper as saying No decision has been made to introduce a Cabinet shakeup and what has been published and announced is only the natural and regular trend of assessments.

It is imprudent to replace the interior minister on the eve of 10th parliamentary election and 5th Assembly of Experts election, Resistance Front Spokesman, Abolghasem Raufian also told Fars News Agency about Reformists pressure on Rouhani's government to change Rahmani Fazli, according to Fars news agency.

But, as reported by Entekhab news website, newly-formed NEDA [Farsi initials for a Second Generation of Reformism] Party has quoted informed sources at the Interior Ministry as saying that Majid Ansari, who currently serves as vice-president for parliamentary affairs, will replace Rahmani Fazli as interior minister.

Last week, in a note to Irans president Hasan Rouhani, Tehran University professor and prominent political analyst Sadegh Zibakalamurged him to change interior minister.
