Zarif highlights grounds for expansion of Iran-Georgia economic ties

Tehran, May 18, IRNA Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said on Monday that Iran and Georgia have excellent ties and there are various grounds for expansion of economic cooperation.

Zarif made the remarks in a meeting with Georgian Deputy Prime Minister and Economy Minister Georgi Kvirikashvili.

The Islamic Republic of Iran is keen on expansion of economic cooperation with Georgia, he said.

The top Georgian official said that he held satisfactory negotiations with senior Iranian officials in Tehran.

Although Georgia is a small country, it favors the expansion of its relations with the regional countries, and especially with its strong southern neighbor, the Islamic Republic of Iran.

Deputy Prime Minster Kvirikashvili said that the special fields of interest for Georgia with the Islamic Republic of Iran include technological cooperation, innovations in various fields, energy and tourism.
