Leader's letter reached youths globally despite Western media boycott

TEHRAN (Tasnim) An Iranian cleric said a January letter by Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei to the Western youth circulated rapidly after proponents of the Islamic Revolution used online social networks to propagate it.

In an interview with Tasnim, Hojatoleslam Qomi, a member of Irans Assembly of Experts, said the youth used social networks to promulgate the Leaders historic letter and get around the Western and Zionist media outlets that sought to censor the message.

On January 21, Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei wrote a letter asking the European and North American youths to gain a direct and firsthand knowledge of Islam in reaction to the flood of prejudgments and disinformation campaigns.

Hojatoleslam Qomi said the tactic employed to promote the letter via social networks greatly helped break the boycott of the letter by the mainstream media, and expressed satisfaction with how the letter has reached the Western youth.

Talking about feedback on the letter around the world, the Iranian cleric said the comments posted in social networks illustrate that young people are astonished that the letter has not invited them to convert to Islam but has instead urged them to think freely and discover the truth about Islam for themselves.
