Syrian PM: Iran, Syria each others’ strategic depth

Damascus, May 14, IRNA – Iran and Syria are each others’ strategic depth and members of resistance axis against the US-Zionist plans in the region, said visiting Syrian Prime Minister Wael al-Halqi here on Thursday.

Prime Minister al-Halqi made the comment in a meeting with the visiting head of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission Ala’eddin Borujerdi, appreciating Tehran’s resolute support for Damascus in its anti-terrorism campaign.

He added that the Syrian government emphasizes that the Iranian companies must actively participate in reconstruction of Syria and expand economic, industrial, commercial, medical, and media cooperation, especially in such joint projects as power plants, hospitals, floor factories and silos.

The head of the Iranian Parliament’s National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, too, said in the meeting that the Iranian nation and government are on the side of the Syrians in their righteous campaign against terrorism and extremism.

Borujerdi meanwhile praised the Syrian Army for its successive victories in all fronts.

He also said that although both countries have been faced with challenges, but conquering them is near at hand for both and the Syrian nation will soon celebrate its victory, God willing.

Borujerdi who arrived in Damascus on Wednesday at the top of a parliamentary delegation also had a meeting with the Syrian President Bashar Al Assad and held a press conference after it at the Iranian Embassy in Damascus.
