Iran vows to continue full support for Syria against terrorism

A senior Iranian official has reaffirmed the Islamic Republics resolve to continue supporting the Syria in its battle against foreign-backed Takfiri terrorists groups.

Addressing a group of Syrian activists in Tehran on Tuesday, Hossein Amir-Abdollahian, the Iranian deputy foreign minister for Arab and African affairs, said Iran will continue helping Syria in its anti-terror fight until the Arab state emerges victories from the turmoil that has gripped it for four years.

Irans strategic decision is to continue full support for Syria in the fight against terrorism and in order [for the Arab country] to finally and victoriously put the imposed crisis behind it, Amir-Abdollahian said.

The Iranian diplomat further felicitated the Syrian nation on the recent gains made by the armed forces against the terrorist operating in the mountainous Qalamoun region near the border with Lebanon.

The Syrian nation managed to thwart enemy plots both on the political scene and the battlefield against terrorists, said Amir-Abdollahian, stressing that Syrians will preserve their unity and integrity, and prevent the enemies from achieving their goals through psychological warfare.

In turn, the Syrian activists also appreciated Irans unsparing support for their country.

Syria has been struggling with a deadly crisis since March 2011. The violence fueled by Takfiri groups has so far claimed the lives of over 222,000 people, according to reports.

The United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) says over 7.2 million people have also been internally displaced, while more than 3 million others have fled the country due to the crisis in the Arab country.
