Vice-President for Women and Family Affairs Shahindokht Molaverdi joined the Iran Red Crescent Society (IRCS) as a volunteer member during the appreciation ceremony for the society�s workers on Sunday.

�Today, people are in dire need of compassion and peace and we must try to promote these qualities,� she said, praising this year�s IRCS slogan: �Compassionate Human, Peaceful World,� reports IRNA. Molaverdi received her membership card from Farahnaz Rafe, IRCS deputy for volunteer affairs.

She also stressed the responsible and empathetic nature of women and said: �The immense potential within each woman must be fully harnessed for humanitarian causes.�
