Iran Army Ground Force to stage massive drill

TEHRAN (ISNA)- A senior Iranian commander said the country's Army Ground Force plans to stage massive exercise in Isfahan province, central Iran, mid May.

The drill dubbed 'Beit ul-Moqaddas' will be held in two missile phases considering the proxy war, Commander of the Iranian Army's Ground Forces Brigadier General Ahmad Reza Pourdastan said.

He noted the drill aims to improve the operational capacity and defense power of forces for their presence in proxy war scenes.

The first phase of the drill starts with 84 missiles deployed in Aran and Bidgol region (located in Isfahan province), he said, adding, the rocket capacity of Iranian forces would be evaluated in the drill.

He also said enemies' new threats and tactics necessitate new defense potentials and this capacity would be tested and evaluated in the second phase of the drill.

Iran has conducted several drills to enhance the defense capabilities of its armed forces and to test modern military tactics and equipment.

The Islamic Republic has repeatedly said that its military might poses no threat to other countries, reiterating that its defense doctrine is based on deterrence.
