Police in pursuit of agents behind killing their peer: Ashtari

Tehran, May 11, IRNA - Police Chief Brigadier General Hossein Ashtari said here on Monday that his forces are in pursuit of the agents behind killing an Iranian policeman in west of the country.

Talking to reporters, Ashtari reiterated that, through the pakistani officials, Iran is also pursuing the case of the recent terrorist attack in southeastern province of Sistan and Baluchestan which claimed lives of several Iranian border guards.

He underscored that Pakistan has agreed to extradite the terrorists behind the attack to the Iranian border guards.

On April 30, the 18th joint border commission meeting of Iran and Pakistan ended with the signing of a memorandum of understanding ( MoU).

The MoU containing 26 articles was signed by Deputy Governor General of Sistan and Baluchestan province for security affairs Ali Asghar Mir-Shekari and secretary general of Baluchistan province of Pakistan Seifollah Chata.

Based on one of the articles of the MoU, the border guards of both countries will meet regularly every month, every three months and every six months depending on their ranking to discuss issues of mutual concern.

Also, governors of border towns will meet each other every four months to discuss mutual issues and ways of developing relations on both sides of the border using social and economic capacities of the region.

The 19th joint border commission meeting will be held in Quetta, Pakistan, in October 2015.
