Iran denies moving Washington Interests Section, nuclear talks link

New York, May 8, IRNA - The Mission of the Islamic Republic of Iran to the United Nations on Friday rejected any connection between relocating Iran's Interests Section in Washington and the on-going nuclear negotiations with the P5+1 group of world powers.

The permission to change the building of the Interests Section in Washington was issued last year following correspondence with the Department of State over the increase in concular applications, said the mission's head of Press Office Hamid Babaei.

He added that limited space and delapitation of the building were behind the relocation.

'In fact there has been no link between (the relocation) and the current negotations regarding the nuclear issue,' he stressed.

A report in the the daily Washington Post on Friday linked moving Iranian Interests Section's buidling to the Iran-US talks over the nuclear issue and as a new chapter in their diplomatic relations.
