TEHRAN, Apr. 28 (MNA) � The head of Intangible Heritage Research Center has announced celebration of 70th anniversary of UNESCO establishment will be held in Iran.




Yadollah Parmoun told a press conference in Koushk monument on Tuesday that the second public session of UNESCO Board of Governors would be held in Laleh Hotel, May 4-6, which would hold the ceremony to celebrate the organization�s 70th establishment anniversary. �Iran has plans to use UNESCO�s official logo in all activities of Category 2�Regional Research Center for Safeguarding Intangible Cultural Heritage in West and Central Asia,� Parmoun told reporters.


He also said that the number of countries working on their intangible heritage had risen dramatically in recent years, with a consequence of an intangible heritage convention being under drafting; �intangible heritage cases help regional peace significantly, and UNESCO has set it as a priority to file these cases; one mechanism is establishment of Category 2 centers to promote intangible heritage value and place. Iran hosts and supports such a Category 2 regional center,� said the head of the center.


�The speakers will present their experiences and expertise to the audience on UNESCO; participants will also pay a visit to Koushk monument, and address NGOs and successful cases of intangible heritage, and they discuss plans for 2015 upcoming months,� Parmoun detailed.


Mohammad Hassan Talebian, Cultural Heritage deputy-head and head of Iran�s regional Intangible Heritage Board of Governors and Cultural Heritage�s envoy to the Board, told the reporters that the center was initially established to cover three countries of Iran, Kazakhstan, and Tajikistan; �however, 10 other countries joined the center including Armenia, Turkey, Pakistan, Iraq, Palestine, Lebanon and Kyrgyzstan,� he added, �5 other countries, Republic of Azerbaijan, Afghanistan, Turkmenistan, Qatar and Oman, are in the process of completing their membership documents in the center,� he said.


Talebian noted that an official website of the center would be inaugurated in two Persian and English languages; �the website observes UNESCO standards of conduct and will provide the public with the latest news,� he said.
