Iran records trade surplus in April

Irans customs office says the country registered trade surplus in the first month of the Iranian calendar year (started March 21).

Irans balance of trade (BoT) turned positive in April with its exports exceeding the imports by USD 760 million, IRNA reported.

According to the Islamic Republic of Iran Customs Administration (IRICA), the country imported commodities worth USD 1.971 billion in the 30-day period, which shows a markdown of 23.7% from the same month last year.

Iran also exported USD 2.731 billion in that period which also reveals a 7.7% decline from the same period last year.

However, the countrys overall trade balance remained in the green territory.

The Iranian customs office added that polyethylene, propane and bitumen were the main non-oil products sold overseas and China, Iraq, the United Arab Emirates, India and Afghanistan were the major buyers of Iranian goods.

It said corn, barley, rice and mechanical machines made up the bulk of the Iranian imports last month.
