DM: Iran to stand against all security threats in region

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Defense Minister Brigadier General Hossein Dehqan stressed that Tehran will firmly stand against any group or party that attempts to disturb security in the region.

"Iran, with all its power, will stand against all Takfiri-Zionist streams that stir insecurity in the region," Dehqan told reporters after meeting with his Syrian counterpart General Fahd al-Freij in Tehran on Wednesday.

"The Takfiri and Zionist grouplets are the main culprits behind the instability in the region and instability in the world in the future," he said, and continued, "They commit crimes and massacre people and the international bodies dont show any reaction."

Dehqan said Iran as an independent and powerful country is sensitive to the region's peace and stability and not shy to take any needed action to maintain calm and security.

In relevant remarks earlier this month, Dehqan blasted the western countries and their regional allies for supporting the ISIL, warning that the Takfiri groups were a threat not just to the Muslim states, but to the global security.

"What is important today in the Muslim World is the growth of extremism and Takfiri currents that threaten both Islamic states and the global security," Brigadier General Dehqan said upon his arrival in Baku International Airport.

Similar warnings about the spread of Takfiri terrorism have also been issued by other senior Iranian officials in the last one year.

Supreme Leader's top adviser for international affairs Ali Akbar Velayati on Saturday warned supporters of terrorism and extremism in the region that their actions would backfire on them soon.

"The terrorist and extremist groups have been created and supported by certain western states, and certain regional states supported them financially and created serious problems in the region," Velayati said in a meeting with Australian Foreign Minister Julie Bishop in Tehran.

Stressing that the supporters of these groups will not be able to escape the problems and damages inflicted by them, he called for serious fight against terrorism and extremism.

Velayati reiterated that the Islamic Republic of Iran condemns the terrorist groups' crimes and has adopted serious measures in this regard.
