Tehran, April 27, IRNA Minister of Agricultural Jihad Mahmoud Hojjati said on Monday that Iran produced 1,400,000 tons sugar last year, adding that Iran no longer needs to import sugar.
Hojjati said last year, about 1,400,000 tons of sugar and 4,700,000 tons of sugar beet were produced, which marks a breakthrough.
He said in the meantime that 800,000 tons of sugar were imported two years ago.
