TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iranian Ground Force Commander Brigadier General Ahmad-Reza Pourdastan said the Force plans to hold five large scale drills in the Iranian calendar year (started on March 21, 2015).
“We stage drills every year proportionate with the atmosphere of threats and threat in the asymmetric atmosphere and threat in proxy wars. We will hold five massive drills in five points of Iran this year. We are trying to boost the operational capability of ground force proportionate with the threats.”
He also rejected allegations raised by Saudi Arabia and certain Arab countries that Iran is sending weapons to Yemen, and said, “The Islamic Republic of Iran has not sent any weapon or equipment aid to Yemen.”
The Iranian official reiterated that Iran is only making efforts to send medicine and sanitation aid to Yemen.
Pourdastan added, “The Islamic Republic of Iran is not interested in conflict with Saudi because it is our friend and ally. Saudi military attaché is in Iran and we invited him to take part in the Army Ground Force Day, because we want to have relations with Saudi Arabia.”
“We are not interested in bloody ties between the two Muslim countries (Iran and Saudi Arabia). There is no need to use weapon when table of talks can sort out the problems.”
