Saudi aggression on Yemen to undermine Muslim community: Iran's Larijani

TEHRAN (Tasnim) Speaker of Iran's Parliament Ali Larijani slammed the recent war waged by Saudi Arabia and its Arab allies on Yemen as detrimental to the Islamic Ummah (Community), saying that Muslim countries' resources should instead be employed to fight the enemies of Islam.

"In this event (aggression on Yemen), both the country launching the offensive and the one under attack would suffer a loss of energy and resources, and this would eventually weaken the Islamic Ummah," Larijani said, addressing a ceremony in Tehran on Saturday.
The Iranian speaker made the remarks in reference to the military aggression launched by Saudi Arabia and some of its Arab allies against Yemen's Houthi Ansarullah movement in an attempt to restore power to fugitive Yemeni President Abd Rabbuh Mansur Hadi, a close ally of Riyadh.
The Saudi-led coalition, including military forces from Qatar, the United Arab Emirates (UAE), Kuwait, Egypt, Sudan, Bahrain, Morocco, Jordan, and Egypt, has killed hundreds of civilians since they started their air strikes on March 26.
Larijani went on to say that the aggression conforms neither to Islamic laws nor to common sense, since it wastes the already limited resources of Muslim countries.
Earlier on Thursday, Supreme Leader of the Islamic Revolution Ayatollah Seyed Ali Khamenei slammed the war on Yemen, saying that Saudis will definitely be struck back in this issue and they will be defeated.
"This action (of the Saudis) is not acceptable in the region and I warn that they will certainly lose interests," the Leader stressed.
