Iran to launch new submarine

Tehran, April 11, IRNA Iran will launch home made submarine soon, Navy Commander said on Saturday.

Rear-Admiral Habibollah Sayyari told IRNA that Iranians would hear good from Navy soon.

The Submarine 'Fateh' (triumphant) was tested in a joint military forces maneuver in January 2015.

He said in the meantime that Navy is working on a new destroyer and expressed hope that the vessel would join to Iranian fleet this year.

The Navy Commander said that the destroyer is like former destroyers which will be unveiled with a collection of weapons and different equipment soon.

He said on April 9 that manufacturing the third generation of Iranian Sahand-model destroyers is underway.

Meanwhile, Navy launched the second generation of Iranian destroyers dubbed 'Damavand' in Caspian Sea in March 2015.

'Jamaran' destroyer was the first generation of Iranian made destroyers launched into the Persian Gulf waters on February 2010.

The warship is 94 meters long, 1,420 tons weight, 30 nautical mile (56 k/h) speed, equipped with missile, surface-to-air missile, torpedo, gun, modern electronic navigation devices, equipment for electronic war and ability to carry 140 seamen and helicopter.
