Irans security committee signs single-urgency bill to stop Umrah pilgrimage



TEHRAN, Apr. 08 (MNA) Spokesman for the Iranian Parliaments National Security Committee has said a single-urgency bill to stop Umrah pilgrimage was signed by 70 MPs and presented to the board of directors.



Given the fact that insolence and disrespect to the Iranian pilgrims in Mecca has increased, and also with the recent heinous and inhumane crime that was committed against the two Iranian teenagers by Jeddah airport security officials, the bill [to stop Umrah pilgrimage] has been presented to the committees board of directors, Spokesman for the Iranian Parliaments National Security and Foreign Policy Committee Hossein Naghavi Hosseini told Mehr News correspondent.


He was referring to the incidence on March 28 in which the Saudi airport officials separated the two Iranians from other members of their group who were returning from their pilgrimage, and sexually assaulted them.


Naghavi Hosseini maintained that the bill asserts all Umrah pilgrimages to Saudi Arabia will cease until the pilgrims perfect safety is assured.


He also noted that the National Security committee will hold a meeting with Iran'sHajj and Pilgrimage Organization officials in order to investigate the incidence and decide about the situation on Umrah pilgrimage.
