China, Russia ready to import Iranian shrimps

TEHRAN, Apr. 08 (MNA) – Iran’s Agriculture Minister has announced that China and Russia are ready to import Iranian shrimps.

Pointing to the markets of Europe, UAE, China and Russia as the major targets for Iranian shrimp export, Iran’s Agriculture Minister Mahmoud Hojjati said, “In the recent trips to China and Russia to develop appropriate infrastructure for protein transactions, some agreements were signed between the authorities of the countries.”

“Based on the agreement with Russian health authorities, the two countries agreed to establish an animal quarantine in a bid to open foreign markets for Iran’s aquaculture production.

About 200 tons of shrimp is consumed in Russia, Hojjati said, adding that Iran holds a negligible share in those markets.

Hojjati stressed the need for removing restrictions on the export tariffs, calling it another priority for Iran’s Ministry of Agriculture to expand aquaculture export in the country.
