Senior lawmaker declares Majlis support for negotiating team

Tehran, April 7, IRNA - Behrouz Nemati, the spokesman for the parliament (Majlis) presiding board on Tuesday declared lawmakers' support for the negotiating team.

Speaking to IRNA about debate of a Majlis closed session on Tuesday morning, he said that majority of MPs are satisfied with the achievements made in the nuclear talks.

The MP expressed concern about possible manipulation of the text of the framework agreement reached in Lausanne, Switzerland, last week by the western officials.

Answering a question about the government plan about voluntary acceptance of additional protocol to Non-Proliferation Treaty allowing the International Atomic Energy Agency intrusive inspections, the MP said that government has the authority to accept additional protocol without Majlis permission.

IAEA inspectors will have the right to visit Iran's nuclear sites based on the additional protocol to NPT, Nemati underlined.

Meanwhile, Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif and head of Iranian Atomic Energy Organization Ali Akbar Salehi briefed the MPs on technical and political aspects of Lausanne negotiations.

Iran and Group 5+1 reached a framework agreement in Lausanne, Switzerland, in run-up for drafting the final nuclear deal.

Zarif said on April 2 that according to the framework agreement reached between Iran and the six world powers, the United Nations Security Council will pass a resolution to terminate the sanctions already imposed by the body on Iran and the United States and the European Union will lift the unilateral sanctions.
