Fabius expects press declaration on Iran nuclear talks before Easter

Earlier in the day, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that sticking points remained in the negotiations, but there may be an "official press situation" if everything goes well.
LAUSANNE (Sputnik) French Foreign Minister Laurent Fabius said Thursday he hopes a declaration forthe press would be ready beforeEaster weekend.I hope, Fabius said, answering a question onwhether he expected negotiation results beforethe Catholic Easter holidays.

Earlier inthe day, Iranian Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif said that sticking points remained inthe negotiations, butthere may be an "official press situation" if everything goes well.

Tuesday was the deadline forthe sides toreach a framework forthe comprehensive deal onTehran's nuclear program. The P5+1, comprising Russia, the United States, France, China, the United Kingdom and Germany, and Iran missed the deadline, continuing the negotiations Wednesday and Thursday.

US Secretary ofState John Kerry, told journalists talks had been so intense he hardly had time toeat.The West fears Iran intends todevelop nuclear weapons underthe guise ofits civilian nuclear energy program, and wants Tehran tohalt its uranium enrichment program and decrease the number ofcentrifuges inthe country. Tehran wants Western sanctions imposed againstIran tobe fully lifted aspart ofthe deal.

The deadline fora final comprehensive agreement onthe Iranian nuclear program has been set forJuly 1, 2015.
