Yemen conflict must not grow into Arab-Iran conflict - Lavrov

Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said that Moscow is ready to do everything possible so that the conflict does not turn into a larger conflict between Arab states and Iran.

MOSCOW (Sputnik) The situation inYemen must not get outof control and place Arab states againstIran inthe current conflict, Russian Foreign Minister Sergei Lavrov said Tuesday.
We are greatly concerned overwhat is happening inYemen. The situation should not get outof control and our approach is that it is necessary tostop any use ofmilitary force, Lavrov said duringa joint conference withVanuatu Foreign Minister Sato Kilman inMoscow.

Lavrov emphasized that the conflicting sides need torenew talks onneutral territory.

Its already understood that these talks need tobe onneutral territory, and thats why the special representative ofthe UN Secretary General onthe situation inYemen is being called, Lavrov said.

Lavrov added that Moscow is ready todo everything possible so that the conflict does not turn intoa larger conflict betweenArab states and Iran.

Moreover, we cannot allow the situation toturn intoan attempt tostart an open conflict betweenthe Arabs and Iran. We will do everything possible so that doesnt happen, Lavrov added.
