Iran concerned about sanctions relief in talks on nuclear program with P5+1

According to a source in one of the delegations, obstacles remain in P5+1 and Tehran's negotiations on Iran's nuclear program.

On Sunday, Iranian Deputy Foreign Minister Abbas Araqchi stated that his country is demanding sanctions relief aspart ofthe nuclear deal. Chief ofIranian Atomic Energy Organization Ali Akbar Salehi, inturn, said that a deal would be impossible if the sanctions were toremain inplace.

The latest roundof talks onIran's contested nuclear program is taking place inLausanne. Tehran and P5+1 group, comprising the United Kingdom, France, China, Russia, the United States and Germany, have held several rounds ofnegotiations sinceNovember 2013.

The West is accusing Iran oftrying todevelop nuclear weapons undera guise ofcivilian nuclear program, and imposed several rounds ofsanctions onTehran. Iran has repeatedly rejected those claims.

The negotiating parties are expected towork outa political framework agreement bythe end ofMarch. A comprehensive deal ensuring the peaceful nature ofTehran's nuclear activities is set tobe reached byJuly.
