Afkham: 3 Persian Gulf islands, integrated part of Iran

Tehran, March 30, IRNA Foreign Ministry Spokeswoman Marziyeh Afkham said the three Persian Islands are inseparable parts of the Iranian territory.

She made the remarks here on Monday in reaction to the claims made in the 26th meeting of the Arab League.

She said such remarks are certainly regarded as attempts to intervene in Irans affairs.

Afkham said repeating such interventionist remarks about Irans sovereignty over the Lesser Tunb, Greater Tunb and Abu Mousa in the Persian Gulf will in no way tarnish the existing legal and historical facts about the islands.

Everything carried out in these three islands are in full compliance with Irans sovereign rights over them, she added.

Afkham stressed that the Islamic Republic of Iran has always been pursuing a policy of fraternity and good neighborly ties with all regional countries based on mutual respect and non-interference in internal affairs.

The Foreign Ministry spokeswoman underscored that Iran saw no impediments on expanding and deepening friendly relations and always welcomed constructive and extensive all-out cooperation.

On Monday, Iran's parliamentary delegation attending the 132nd Inter-Parliamentary Union (IPU) Assembly in Hanoi, Vietnam called the UAE claim over the three Iranian islands in the Persian Gulf as unfounded.

A delegation member, Gholam Reza Nouri Qezeljeh, said the UAE claim contradicts international regulations.

He said such claims would certainly damage good relations between the two neighboring states.

The parliamentarian also said such claims will not alter the existing realities about the Iranian islands.
