Zarif, Kerry to kick off 1st round of N-talks today in Lausanne

LAUSANNE, Mar. 26 (MNA) The new round of nuclear talks between Irans FM and the US Secretary of State will kick off today in Lausanne at 10:00 AM local time.

According to Mehr News correspondents in Lausanne, Mohammad Javad Zarif and John Kerry will begin a new round of nuclear negotiations in the Swiss city today on Thursday at 10:00 AM local time (13:30 Tehran time.)


Head of the Atomic Energy Organization of Iran (AEOI) Ali Akbar Salehi, as well as deputy FMs Seyed Abbas Araghchi and Majid Takht-Ravanchi accompany Zarif in this round of talks. United States Secretary of Energy Ernest Moniz, Undersecretary of State Wendy Sherman, and the European Union deputy foreign policy chief,Helga Schmid will be also present in the first round of the talks between Iran and US on Thursday morning.


Hours prior to this upcoming meeting, Araghchi and Takht-Ravanchi had already held a meeting with Wendy Sherman.


In the last round of talks we discussed various solutions to the remaining issues such as enrichment, research and development, Fordow nuclear facility, elimination of all sanctions, the time schedule, as well as the time for implementing the agreements. We managed to get very close to reaching a solution on some of these issues, said Zarif before departing for Lausanne last night.


According to Zarif, there is a possibility that other 5+1 foreign ministers would join the talks by the end of the week or by Saturday.
