TEHRAN — First Vice President Eshaq Jahangiri has asked the ICT Ministry to study the executive and technical aspects of a plan to launch a nationwide ID program.

Launching a national ID website and issuing electronic ID cards are the main parts of the plan, according to Khabar Farsi news website.
At a meeting with ministers of ICT, industry, education, economy, as well as vice president for science and technology and head of the National Organization for Civil Registration, Jahangiri insisted on the need to improve electronic services in keeping with international developments.
He ordered the ICT Ministry to provide a comprehensive report on the national ID project and present it to the cabinet.
