TEHRAN (ISNA)- Iran plans to inaugurate the first skin bank in the country in the first six months of the next Iranian calendar year (starts on March 21, 2015) in Mashhad City, northeastern Iran.
The center would be located in Imam Reza hospital, and would keep skins to treat people with severe burns.
Iran is preparing equipment for the central bank.
Skin transplant is now conducted by autograft or allograft methods. The first of which was conducted in 2008.
Autograft uses the patients skin, but allograft uses other peoples skin which was conducted on 200 people.
