TEHRAN (FNA)- Top Military Aide to the Iranian Supreme Leader Major General Yahya Rahim Safavi praised Police Commander Brigadier General Esmayeel Ahmadi Moqaddam for his 10-year services, and said his efforts have led to the enhancement of security in the country, specially at a time when ISIL was posing a grave.

"Brigadier General Ahmadi Moqaddam is a faithful and brave commander, and faily speaking, given the insecurities that we had in Iraq, he has showed a successful performance in the establishment of security at the borders," Rahim Safavi told reporters on the sidelines of a ceremony to introduce the new police chief in Tehran on Saturday.

"Also, the Law Enforcement Police (under Ahmadi Moqaddam's command) have shown a good performance in the past 10 years in fighting drug trafficking and criminals," he added.

In relevant remarks in January, Ahmadi Moqaddam reiterated Tehran's tight control over the country's bordering areas, specially over the western borders with Iraq.

Speaking to reporters in the Southern city of Bushehr, he reminded that in the past, the ISIL terrorist group was operating on Iraq's soil in an area 40km away from the Iranian borders.

"But as a result of the efforts of the Iraqi army and people, the group was pushed back and we didnt have any incident at the Iranian borders," the police chief added.

Stressing the Iranian law enforcement forces' strong presence and readiness to control and defend the borders, Ahmadi Moqaddam said no military threat was posed to the Iranian borders.
