Bushehr prov, March 12, IRNA Senior Member of Parliament Alaeddin Boroujerdi said on Thursday that Iran's policy in the region is deterrence and defending the oppressed.

Speaking during a ceremony in Bushehr, in southern Iran to pay tribute to 670 martyrs of the city of Dashtestan during the eight years of Iraqi imposed war on Iran (1980-88), Boroujerdi said: 'We are not seeking war with any other country across the world, but our defensive capability is unique in the region so that no country dares to attack us.'

Boroujerdi, head of Majlis National Security and Foreign Policy Commission, hailed sustainable security in Iran among 57 Muslim countries that he said most of them are facing various problems and civil war.

Boroujerdi said that Iran now holds the upper hand in its nuclear talks with the six world powers unlike 10 years ago when its position was not so strong.

Majlis has ratified a bill, according to which if the US wants to intensify sanctions on Iran, the government has to proceed with nuclear activities with the same pace as before, the lawmaker said.

Boroujerdi said that if there is a country that is to stand trial, it is the United States that produces and tests so many atomic bombs.
