Tehran, March 10, IRNA President Hassan Rouhani, who departed on Tuesday afternoon for Turkmenistan, arrived in Ashgabat while ago.

President Rouhani was welcomed at the airport by Turkmenistan Foreign Minister and Deputy Prime Minister Rashid Meredov and a number of Turkmen officials.


According to the report of Presidential Office website, during his two-day visit President Rouhani will negotiate with Turkmenistan President Gurbanguly Berdimuhamedov and attend joint senior delegation meeting, while participating in Iranian-Turkmen businessmen gathering.

That's the third meeting between Rouhani and Berdimuhamedov.

They had already met in Tehran, Dushanbe and Gorgan, northern city of Iran.

Before traveling to Turkmenistan, President Rouhani had told reporters that he will sought growing trade exchanges between the two countries.

Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif, Chief of Staff of Presidential Office Mohammad Nahavandian, special aide of the president Hossein Fereydoun, Justice Minister Mustafa Pourmohammadi, Minister of Culture and Islamic Guidance Ali Jannati, Vice-President and Head of Department of Environment( DoE) Ma'soumeh Ebtekar and Governor of Central Bank Valiollah Seif are accompanying the president.

Official welcoming ceremony will be held on Wednesday morning and then the two presidents will start bilateral talks.

Signing mutual cooperation documents, planting a tree in a park as symbol of friendship and presence in the meeting of the two countries' businessmen fall within the schedule of President Rouhani's two-day visit to Turkmenistan.

Rouhani will return home on Wednesday evening.
