Iran, Tatarstan discuss promotion of all-out cooperation

TEHRAN (FNA)- Iranian Trade Minister Mohammad Reza Nematzadeh and Tatar President Rostam Minnikhanov, in a meeting on Tuesday, voiced readiness to utilize the existing capacities of both Tehran and Kazan to broaden and deepen bilateral relations.

Nematzadeh said in the meeting that Tatarstan is active in new technologies, oil, gas, and electronic industries and can cooperate with Iran in these fields.


Meanwhile, Tatar president said his country would like to increase trade exchanges with Iran, adding that Tatarstan is a hub of oil and industry in Russia.


He said Tatarstan has significant capacities in oil extraction, machine building, ship building, technology parks, robot industry, and bio-technology, which can make opportunities for more cooperation with Iran.


President Minnikhanov said Kazan is a great center of education in Russia and over 180 thousand students are studying in Kazan universities.


He called for more cooperation with Iran in the fields of holding film festivals, exhibitions, sports events, and other social activities.


In the last several years, Iran and Russia have had vast cooperation in different fields, specially in political and economic spheres.


The two states also enjoy special positions on the international scene and have long had constant and regular consultations on key regional and global issues.
