Jordanian FM calls asks for Arab-Iranian dialogue
TEHRAN (FNA)- Jordanian Foreign Minister Nasser Judeh called on the Arab League to establish dialogue with Iran similar to other countries.

"The Arab League should organize Arab-Iranian dialogue like its dialogue with other countries," Judeh said in a meeting with his Iranian counterpart Mohammad Javad Zarif in Tehran on Saturday.


Judeh described as important consultations with senior Iranian officials under the present conditions, and said, "Iran is an important country in the region and we believe that we can exchange views with Iranian officials on different issues."

The Jordanian foreign minister pointed to terrorism and extremism as important problems of the region, and said, "This problem is not just confined and related to Shiites or Sunnis."


He referred to regional issues as the core of his country's foreign policy principles, and said, "The region has been affected by instability, violence and extremism for several years and we believe that political stability and security should be restored to the region sooner and for the same reason we need unity and solidarity among all Muslim nations as well as talks and consultations with Iranian brothers on vital regional issues is important to us."


The Jordanian foreign minister reiterated Iran's important regional role.


The Iranian foreign minister, for his part, underlined the need for collective efforts by the regional countries to cooperate on extremism and terrorism, and said, "Terrorist and savage acts such as the killing of the Jordanian pilot are not acceptable and they taint the image of Islam "


Zarif pointed to the crimes committed by the ISIL terrorists, and said, "They (the terrorists) try to create differences among Muslims."

The Iranian foreign minister pointed to Iran's foreign policy, and said, "We also believe in interaction and serious exchange of views on different regional issues to achieve mutual understanding."


Zarif underlined that expansion of ties with neighbors and regional issues top Iran's foreign diplomacy, and said, "I have always announced that we prioritize regional issues and we need to discuss the regional developments."

The Iranian foreign minister pointed to the efforts underway by the Israeli regime to divert the attention of the regional countries from main issues to trivial issues, and said, "Paying heed to this tactic of the Israelis will benefit everyone in the region."


The Jordanian foreign minister, heading a high-ranking political delegation, arrived in Tehran on Friday night.
