Iran to unveil new missile defense system

Iran will introduce a new missile defense system, capable of shooting down target at the range of more than 200 kilometers.


Tehran plans tointroduce a new missile defense system onApril 18, onthe occasion ofthe Army Day inIran, said Brigadier General Farzad Esmayeeli, the commander ofthe Iranian Air Defense Force, according toFars News Agency.

Iranian-made missile defense system called the Talash 3, also known asEndeavor-3, is capable ofshooting downtargets ata range ofmore than200 kilometers.
The capability and might ofthe Armed Forces, specially Khatam ol-Anbia Air Defense Base, will be displayed tothe enemies again and we will once again see tumult amongthe ill-wishers, Esmayeeli said.According toEsmayeeli, Iran already has the safest airspace inthe Middle East, with3,600 locations spots underits control. The country aims toincrease the number to5,000 locations inthe future.

The Brigadier General also added that Iran is currently working tolaunch several new hi-tech radar systems, capable oftracing and identifying small flying objects.

Last November, Iran unveiled its newly developed drone named Ababil 3 that can fly foreight hours non-stop onthe altitude of4,500 kilometers (15,000 feet).
