A source in the Iranian delegation at the current talks in Montreaux said that Tehran and Washington have made progress on several key aspects of the much-anticipated Iran nuclear deal.


MONTREAUX (Sputnik) Tehran and Washington have made progress onseveral key aspects ofthe much-anticipated Iran nuclear deal, including the sanctions issue, a source inthe Iranian delegation atthe current talks inMontreaux said Tuesday.

Senior Iran and US officials resumed inSwitzerland onTuesday negotiations aimed atreaching a nuclear deal meant tocurb Tehran's controversial nuclear program inexchange forsanctions relief.

"The United States and Iran made certain progress atthe talks onthe nuclear program concerning several key aspects, including the sanctions issue," the source said.Iran and the P5+1 group ofinternational mediators, comprising the United States, Russia, China, the United Kingdom, France and Germany, are expected towork outthe outline ofthe deal bythe end ofMarch, withthe deadline forthe final agreement being set forJuly.

The Iranian delegation is tomeet P5+1 envoys inthe Swiss city ofMontreux forfurther negotiations March 5.

The UN Security Council and several countries have imposed several rounds ofsanctions againstIran, accusing it oftrying todevelop nuclear weapons underthe guise ofa civilian nuclear program. Tehran has repeatedly rejected the claims, insisting that its nuclear activities have peaceful uses only.
